T-Bone: T-Bone is one of our most famous Sweet Paws Rescue doggies! This little guy was moments away from tragedy when he was rescued. He was so skinny, it didn’t even look possible that he could be alive! Fortunately, he had a fighting spirit, and T-Bone not only survived, he thrived! As his journey was shared on the Sweet Paws page, he gained many online admirers, and found the perfect forever home where he is treated like the celebrity that he is!
Liberty: This beautiful lab was rescued just in the nick of time! She was starving and had two broken legs, but thanks to generous donations and the wonderful care of her Southern foster and doctors, she was able to receive the surgeries she needed to heal! This stunning lady captured the heart of all who met her. Liberty made her way to Massachusetts in 2019, where she settled quickly into her forever home!
Adopt-a-BULL: “Bully breed” dogs are so often in need of rescue, and have to overcome many unfair stereotypes in order to catch the eye of adopters. The truth is, you won’t find anything more loyal than a rescue pittie! Just ask any of the families who adopted some of our favorite pitbull mixes over the years: Frank (the Tank!), a dog abandoned after the Lawrence gas explosions; Brooks, a dog who had been so severely abused it took him over a year before he was well enough to travel North; Sunshine, who had been left for dead after being forced to deliver litter after litter of puppies; or Moose & Hippo, an abandoned pair from Massachusetts who think they’re enormous lap dogs! All of these dogs, and countless others, are living their happiest lives thanks to adopters who saw the big, goofy grins, not the breed label.
Avery: Avery is a true rescue, plucked from the side of the road, her hair matted and caked with filth to such a degree that she could barely move. Once she was relieved of all of her extra fur baggage, she thrived, becoming a fast Sweet Paws favorite with her contagious smile and joyful nature. Avery arrived in Massachusetts in fall, 2020, and is living happily furever after with a longtime Sweet Paws volunteer and her canine sister.
Bowser: When our rescuers found Bowser, he was was practically skeletal — only half the weight he should be, despite having an “owner.” Fortunately, once he was surrendered to us, he regained his strength — showing off what a handsome boxer he is! This goofy guy was quickly adopted by a family who had a Bowser-shaped hole in their lives, and he is truly living the sweet life!
Oscar: Oscar’s story started out very sad. He was discovered gravely injured - some bad humans shot him, and he had two broken legs. Fortunately, he was rescued, and the Sweet Paws family stepped up to donate enough money for him to have the surgeries necessary to save his life and make him pain-free again! Oscar captured the heart of an adopter while he was still down South, and he now lives the life of a king with his forever family!
Gem: Gem was rescued after our team received a call from a local resident about a feral tomcat who they had trapped in their barn—if we didn’t get him, they were going to drive him out of town and dump him. He was emaciated, broken-hearted, and very near death. Fortunately, with medical care and an adoring foster family, Gem blossomed, becoming the truest example of a “lap cat” there ever could be. His story caught the attention of a local family, and he is now living a very happy housecat life—just as he deserves!
